Custom Quilting

• Custom quilting includes coordinating designs, multiple borders, freestyle feathers, echo quilting, stitch-in-the-ditch, outlining ~ .03 to .04 per sq. in.
• Close background fill, detailed stitching ~ .04 to .06 per sq. in.
• Trapunto ~ .05 to .08 per sq. in.

Additional Charges and Services

• Seam a quilt back ~ $10.00
• Iron your quilt top or back ~ $10.00
• Special Border Treatment ~ $20.00 for turning quilt
• Trimming back to square up ~ $5.00
• Repairing seams ~ $10.00
• Attaching a hanging sleeve to quilt ~ $10.00
• Any additional work that must be done to your quilt to prepare it for quilting will be billed at $25.00 per hour.

Backing

• 100% cotton
• 108 inch ~ $12.00 per yard
• 45 inch to 60 inch ~cost of fabric

 Binding

• Binding made from your fabric, machine sewn to back of quilt.
• You hand stitch to finish ~ .10 per linear inch
• The above but I machine stitch to finish ~ .20 per linear inch

Threads ~ Changing of colors - $2.00  each change 

Batting
I offer two choices

• 100% cotton, 96" wide ~ $10.00/yard
• 4 oz Polyester, 48" wide ~ $5.00

• Keep quilt layer separate.  No pinning or basting is required.
• Quilt Top:
  • Your quilt top should be well pressed
  • Make sure edges are straight and top is as square as possible.
  • Check seams to make sure they are secure and trim off hanging threads
  • Leave off embellishments until quilting is done.
•  Backing
  • Use a good quality muslin or other cotton quilting fabric.  Avoid using bedsheets for backing.
  • Measurement:  Backing should be 6" wider and longer and wider than quilt top.
  • Backing should be pressed and all selvages trimmed off.
  • Make sure it's as square as possible.
• Batting
  • You may provide your own batting or ...
  • I offer cotton or polyester batting for an extra charge.  Batting needs to be 4 inches longer and wider than the quilt
  • Cotton batting shrinks a little when washed, giving your quilt an old-fashioned look.  Polyester doesn't shrink.

Measuring Your Quilt

Backing and Batting Measurements:
 *** Example:  a 94" x 94" quilt top needs a backing and batting that each measure 100" x 100"

Calculating the cost of quilting:

Multiply the length times the width of your quilt top to get square inches.  Multiply square inches times the cost of the quilting service you desire
 ***Example:  Your quilt top is 94" x 94"

You want an all over pantograph which is .01 (or .02) per square inch.
94 x 94 = 8836 square inches
8836 x .01 = $88.36 ($176.72) + any additional services + shipping costs

Calculating the cost of binding:
Your quilt top measures 80" x 100"

You want me to machine sew the binding and you will finish at home:
Width - 80" x 2 - 160"
Length  - 100" x 2 = 200"
Total of 360" x. .10 = $36.00

You want me to finish all of the binding:
Width - 80" x 2 = 160"
Length - 100" x 2 = 200"
Total of 360" x .20 = $72.00

Shipping Information

• Refunds will be made by check within seven (7) days of receiving the item to be returned.
• There will be NO refunds on shipping charges unless we have inadvertently shipped the incorrect item.

Shipping costs are charged by the actual cost of the shipment based on weight and location.  All shipments are made via USPS unless otherwise requested.
